The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of two Nollywood actors under mysterious circumstances after attending a private party in Owerri. Two others were also hospitalized and are currently receiving treatment at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, investigations are ongoing to determine what led to the deaths. He stated:
> “Yes, the Command is aware of the unfortunate incident of unnatural death. I can confirm that two people were pronounced dead while two were hospitalised. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed that autopsies be carried out by the Pathologist to ascertain the cause of death.”
Sources revealed that the incident happened after a movie shoot. The actors, along with three women, attended a house party hosted by the movie director, who reportedly provided food and drinks.
A source, Kaito Karisia, who first shared the news on Facebook, said the group had eaten rice and taken wine provided by their host. The movie director allegedly went to bed early, only to wake up later during a power switch-over and discover two of the actors dead, while the other two were barely conscious.
According to one of the survivors, they had only sipped the wine, but the two deceased had consumed most of it.
The movie director and the three women who were at the party have since been arrested and are currently being questioned by the police.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the Nollywood community, with many calling for thorough investigations and better safety awareness during productions and private gatherings.
