President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with members of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa arrived at around 2:50 p.m., while other lawmakers had earlier arrived in two coaster buses for the high-stakes discussion.
Although details of the meeting remain undisclosed, sources suggest it is linked to the recent leadership crisis within the Lagos Assembly.
Speaker Obasa was recently impeached by some of his colleagues but was later reinstated after key political leaders, particularly the Governing Advisory Council (GAC), intervened. However, despite his reinstatement, tensions within the Assembly have not fully settled.
The meeting with President Tinubu could be an effort to broker peace and restore unity among lawmakers. Whether it will put an end to the lingering political rift remains to be seen.
