The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that there are no immediate plans to increase electricity tariffs, dismissing recent reports suggesting that a price hike was on the way.
The clarification comes amid growing public concern over the cost of electricity, with many households and businesses already struggling with rising living expenses. According to the government, recent comments about electricity reforms were misunderstood and should not be interpreted as an announcement of a tariff increase.
Instead, the government says its priority is to reform the power sector by improving electricity supply, expanding access to prepaid meters, strengthening the national grid, and creating a more transparent electricity market.
