Liverpool have officially signed Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €35 million (£29.5 million). The 24-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract, keeping him at Anfield until 2030.
Frimpong Joins After Alexander-Arnold Exit
The signing comes just hours after the club confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid, ending his long spell at Liverpool. Frimpong is expected to slot into the squad as Alexander-Arnold’s direct replacement under new head coach Arne Slot.
Frimpong’s arrival follows Liverpool’s decision to activate his release clause at Leverkusen, where he was a key part of a historic run.
A Proven Winner from Germany
Frimpong played a major role in Leverkusen’s first-ever Bundesliga title during the 2023–24 season. He made 53 appearances across all competitions over the past season, helping the team secure a second-place finish in 2024–25.
Known for his speed, attacking threat, and work rate, Frimpong brings energy and versatility to Liverpool’s right flank.
Competition in the Squad
While Frimpong is expected to be the first-choice right-back, he will face competition from Conor Bradley. The Northern Ireland international recently signed a new four-year contract after impressing in limited appearances last season.
