Senate President Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from a planned rally allegedly organized in his honor, describing it as “satanic.”
The rally, reportedly arranged by the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR), is led by Ubong Idemudo and was scheduled to take place on April 4 in Akwa Ibom.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio denied any knowledge of the event and urged residents of the state to disregard it.
“The planned rally, based on available information, is the handiwork of fifth columnists attempting to exploit the name of the Senate President for their own ulterior motives,” the statement read.
Akpabio also called on security agencies to intervene and prevent the event from taking place.
“The police and other security agencies in the state are hereby directed to ensure that such a satanic rally does not hold, as it has no approval from the Senate President,” the statement added.
