Benin Republic coach Gernot Rohr recently praised Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen’s performance during the World Cup qualifiers, where Osimhen scored a brace against Rwanda, contributing to Nigeria’s rise to fourth place in CAF Qualification Group C.
Rohr, who previously coached the Super Eagles, acknowledged Osimhen’s scoring prowess and noted that Nigeria is on the right track for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Looking ahead, Rohr emphasized the need for Nigeria to be cautious of Zimbabwe’s tactics under their new coach, Michael Nees. Since his appointment, Nees has introduced a new philosophy to the Zimbabwean team, making them a formidable opponent.
The Warriors recently secured a 2-2 draw against Benin Republic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in South Africa, showcasing their resilience and tactical adaptability. Rohr highlighted that the Super Eagles will face a challenging match against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo tomorrow.
