The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has announced the launch of its 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project, a large-scale initiative valued at N16 billion aimed at supporting one million Nigerians across the country. This significant effort is a direct response to the ongoing economic challenges facing the nation and underscores the foundation’s commitment to eradicating hunger.
A Nationwide Initiative to Combat Hunger
During the inaugural ceremony in Kano on Thursday, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Foundation, disclosed the details of the initiative. Represented by his daughter, Marya Aliko-Dangote, he emphasized that the project embodies the values of compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
As part of the intervention, the Foundation will distribute one million bags of 10kg rice to the most vulnerable Nigerians across all 774 local government areas. The initiative aims to alleviate food insecurity and provide much-needed relief to those struggling to meet their daily nutritional needs.
Ensuring the Food Reaches Those in Need
To maximize the project’s impact, the Aliko Dangote Foundation is collaborating with state governments to ensure efficient distribution. By working closely with local authorities, the Foundation aims to guarantee that the food supplies reach the most deserving individuals.
In addition to combating hunger, ADF remains committed to improving the overall quality of life for Nigerians through various initiatives. These include providing clean water, enhancing healthcare and education services, and promoting economic empowerment at the community level.
A Call for Collective Action
Aliko Dangote also used the occasion to encourage other industrialists and corporate entities to step forward and contribute to the fight against hunger. He stressed that tackling food insecurity requires a collaborative effort between the private sector and government institutions.
“There is a pressing need to complement government efforts in addressing hunger and poverty through public-private partnerships,” he stated, while commending government bodies for their ongoing efforts to mitigate the food crisis.
The Bigger Picture: Fighting Hunger in Nigeria
With millions of Nigerians facing food insecurity, initiatives like the ADF Food Intervention Project play a critical role in bridging the gap and providing essential sustenance to those in need. By spearheading such initiatives, the Aliko Dangote Foundation continues to set an example of corporate responsibility and humanitarian service.
As the distribution rolls out across Nigeria, the hope is that more organizations will be inspired to take action, ensuring that no Nigerian has to go to bed hungry. Through collective efforts, a future free from hunger is possible.
