FG Declares May 1 Public Holiday to Mark Workers’ Day
Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in celebration of Workers’ Day.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, highlighted the crucial role of peace, innovation, and productivity in fostering national industrialization and economic growth.
In a statement issued by Permanent Secretary Magdalene Ajani, the minister praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifices, noting that their contributions are central to the country’s progress and international recognition.
He emphasized the dignity of labor and urged workers to raise their standards, contribute to good governance, and support the fair distribution of national resources.
The minister also reassured citizens of the administration’s commitment to safety and national security, encouraging Nigerians to remain hopeful as the Tinubu-led government pursues its Renewed Hope Agenda.
