A Kenyan woman, Sharon Auma, has been arrested by police in Awasi, Kisumu County, after posting a photo of herself on WhatsApp brandishing a pistol and warning that any man who dared to break up with her would face “severe consequences.”
According to the police, the alarming photo caught the attention of detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyando, who swiftly moved in and arrested Sharon.
She was found with her friend and alleged accomplice, Nancy Atieno Obura, who reportedly owns the rented two-bedroom house where the weapon was found.
Upon interrogation, Sharon led officers to the house, where a Canik pistol—hidden inside a basin under the bed and wrapped in clothing—was recovered, along with an empty magazine and a fake motorcycle number plate (KMGG 805M).
Both women are currently in custody and will be arraigned after processing. Meanwhile, authorities say investigations are ongoing to track down other individuals connected to the illegal firearm.
