Sevilla has prevented former Nigeria U20 player Akor Adams from joining the Super Eagles for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Adams, who is recovering from a muscle injury, was initially named in the 39-man provisional list but was omitted from the final 23-man squad.

According to reports, Sevilla delayed Adams’ return by one week to prevent him from participating in the World Cup qualifiers. The 25-year-old striker is still recovering from a rectus femoris muscle injury in his right thigh, which he suffered after making his debut for Sevilla.

Sevilla coach GarcÃa Pimienta stated that Adams has been training with the rehabilitation specialist and needs to undergo tests to determine his fitness. The club and the Nigeria Football Federation have reportedly reached an understanding regarding Adams’ situation.

Before joining Sevilla, Adams made 38 appearances for Lillestrom, scoring 23 goals. He also represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland, playing in two games against Qatar and the United States.
