In an inspiring gesture, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, temporarily gave up his official seat on Tuesday for 12-year-old Adetolani Adekanmbi — a young girl who dreams of becoming a parliamentarian.
Adetolani visited the Assembly Chambers in Lokoja with her family and confidently shared her aspirations with the Speaker. Impressed by her passion and potential, Speaker Yusuf encouraged her to stay focused on her goals, affirming that she has the makings of a great lawmaker.
“Never give up on your dreams,” he told Adetolani, adding that children need both motivation and support from parents to grow into future leaders.
Members of the Assembly, including Hon. Seyi Bello (Kabba/Bunu), witnessed the touching moment, applauding the young girl’s ambition and the Speaker’s thoughtful encouragement.
