Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has reaffirmed her commitment to national development after being honored as Best Woman of the Year at the Independent Awards 2024.
Speaking at the awards gala in Lagos, Tinubu dedicated the recognition to Nigerian women and youth, praising their relentless efforts in shaping the nation’s progress.

Represented by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tinubu emphasized that Nigerian women and youth are the unsung heroes of national development.
“Their resilience and dedication inspire me to keep making meaningful contributions,” she said while thanking the Independent Newspaper for the prestigious honor.

Bode George Calls for Urgent Action on Rivers Crisis
Meanwhile, Chief Olabode George, a prominent PDP leader in the South-West, urged President Bola Tinubu to swiftly intervene in the Rivers State crisis to prevent further escalation.
“Rivers State is crucial to Nigeria’s economy. We cannot afford to let it descend into chaos,” George warned, referencing past instances of civil unrest from Maiduguri to Port Harcourt.
He also challenged the government to bring tangible improvements to Nigerians’ lives before the mid-term mark in May 2025, as the 2027 elections approach.
“My party is preparing for 2027, but the real question is: Are Nigerians better off now than before?” George asked.
