All 38 Worshippers Abducted From Kwara Church Rescued — Governor AbdulRazaq
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced the successful rescue of all 38 worshippers abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The governor confirmed their release on Sunday in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, who credited federal authorities and security agencies for playing key roles in securing the victims’ freedom.
“After many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted,” the statement said.
Governor AbdulRazaq attributed the breakthrough to what he called the “hands-on approach” of President Bola Tinubu, who he said personally oversaw efforts to free the abductees.
According to the statement, the victims were released on November 23. It added that President Tinubu cancelled a planned trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.
The governor also noted that the president ordered enhanced security deployments to Kwara, reflecting his “firm commitment to the safety and well-being” of citizens.
AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four new tactical teams to the state as directed by the president.
He further thanked traditional and religious leaders, community influencers, and residents of the state for their support throughout the ordeal.
