Wike Blames Omehia, Sekibo, and Okpara for Fubara Rift, Vows to Stay in PDP

As tensions continue to rise in Rivers State following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and several House of Assembly members, former governor Nyesom Wike has weighed in—pointing fingers at key political figures he accuses of stirring the crisis.

The development comes after the federal government reportedly declared a state of emergency in the oil-rich state, according to Naija News.

In a Saturday interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike accused Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara of fueling the ongoing conflict between him and his former ally, Governor Fubara.

“I’m fighting those who want to reap where they did not sow,” Wike said. “People like Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. I’ve defeated them before, and I will give them the final defeat.”

Despite growing tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike says he has no intention of leaving the party. While affirming his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, Wike insisted that his position in the PDP is non-negotiable.

“I can’t do that. I’m not afraid—how can I build a house and you now ask me to vacate it?” he said during the same BBC interview.

“It’s you that will leave the house, not me that built it. You want to destroy a house I built? I won’t allow it. I’m not going anywhere—I’ll remain in the PDP.”

Wike’s comments reflect the deepening political divisions in Rivers State and the ongoing power tussle between him and the current governor, a former political ally turned rival.
