The 17th Headies Awards was a night of emotion and celebration as the late music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was honoured posthumously. Mohbad won the award for Best Street-Hop Act for his hit song Ask About Me.
His wife, Wunmi, alongside their son Liam, his brother Adura, actress Regina Daniels, and others, stepped onto the podium to receive the award on his behalf. During the moment, Wunmi delivered a heartfelt and emotional speech, thanking Mohbad’s fans and the organisers for recognising his talent.
In her moving words, she mentioned that although Mohbad has passed, she doesn’t refer to him as “late,” emphasizing that his memory lives on through their son, Liam. Despite the heavy emotions surrounding the moment, Wunmi remained strong and composed, earning widespread admiration online for her courage and grace.
Her speech struck a chord with many viewers, who took to social media to praise her resilience and honour Mohbad’s enduring legacy.
