The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced new visa interview requirements, effective April 22, 2025, for all applicants attending interviews in Abuja and Lagos.
In a statement released on Friday, the embassy emphasized the importance of matching DS-160 confirmation barcode numbers for a smooth application process.
What’s New?
From April 22, all visa applicants must:
-
Present a DS-160 confirmation page with a barcode number that starts with “AA” followed by two zeroes (00).
-
Ensure that the barcode number on the DS-160 form matches the one used to schedule their appointment.
-
Attend their appointment only at the location (Abuja or Lagos) selected when submitting the DS-160 form.
Important Reminders for Applicants
1. Check Your DS-160 Barcode:
At least two weeks before your interview, double-check that the barcode on your DS-160 confirmation matches the one tied to your appointment.
2. Need to Fix a Mistake?
If the barcode is incorrect, log into your AVITS account at least 10 days before your appointment and create a support ticket to request a correction.
3. Turned Away? Here’s What to Do:
If your barcode doesn’t match and you’re denied entry, you must correct the issue and reschedule your interview.
Note: If your visa fee has expired, you may need to pay again before booking a new appointment.
