In an exciting move to engage the younger generation with technology, Digital Equity Africa is set to host the first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit for Children in Africa. The event is aimed at reaching 100,000 children in Nigeria and marks a major step in introducing young minds to the world of AI.
The summit will be the continent’s first child-focused global AI conference, giving kids the chance to go beyond just using technology—they’ll be learning to create with it. This unique event will kick off in Lagos and, in 2025, will travel to Abuja, Kano, and Enugu.
The Lagos Kids Tech Fest 2025, themed “Generation AI: Shaping the Future, One Mind at a Time,” is designed for children between the ages of 6 to 16. The event will feature a mix of interactive activities, immersive learning experiences, hands-on workshops, and engaging exhibitions—all focused on AI and its possibilities.
Justina Nnam Oha, the convener of Kids Tech Fest, explained:
“This isn’t just a conference—it’s a national movement. We’re not only helping African children understand emerging technologies like AI, but we’re also empowering them to take ownership of these technologies. From Lagos to Kano, we’re making tech education accessible to all.”
In addition to the kid-focused activities, there will be special sessions for parents, covering important topics like parenting in an AI world, cyber safety, learning resources, career guidance, and IT curriculum for schools.
As part of this initiative, Digital Equity Africa is launching an AI Learning Community. The community will provide ongoing mentorship and access to digital learning tools for 100,000 Nigerian children in its first year.
