American R&B star Chris Brown has been released on bail following charges related to an alleged nightclub assault in London two years ago.
A UK court granted Brown bail set at £5 million over accusations that he attacked music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle in 2023. Prosecutors described the incident as an “unprovoked attack” that caused serious injury.
Brown, who faces a charge of grievous bodily harm, was not present at the Southwark Crown Court when the judge, Tony Baumgartner, made the decision.
Though he has not yet entered a plea, the court has allowed Brown to continue his scheduled international tour, which includes stops in the UK this June and July. However, his bail comes with several strict conditions.
As part of the arrangement:
- Brown must pay a £4 million security deposit immediately, and an additional £1 million within a week.
- He must live at an approved address, known to the court.
- He is banned from visiting the nightclub where the alleged attack occurred.
- He cannot contact the alleged victim, Abraham Diaw, or apply for new travel documents.
- He must surrender his passport when not on tour.
The “Go Crazy” singer is also expected to travel to Europe, the U.S., and Canada as part of his ongoing tour.
Brown will return to court on June 20 alongside his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old U.S. national who is also facing related charges.
