VDM Advises Mercy Chinwo to Settle Issues With Boss Out of Court

Nigerian social media critic, Martins Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), recently released a video discussing the ongoing legal dispute between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former label boss, Eezee Tee of Eezee Concepts.

In the video, VDM revealed that he had a phone conversation with Chinwo’s lawyer, during which he advised pursuing an out-of-court settlement. To support his advice, VDM cited several Nigerian artists whose careers suffered after conflicts with their record labels.

Historically, disputes between Nigerian artists and their record labels have often led to significant setbacks in the artists’ careers.

For instance, Kizz Daniel’s disagreement with G-Worldwide in 2017 resulted in legal battles and a temporary rebranding from ‘Kiss Daniel’ to ‘Kizz Daniel’. Similarly, Cynthia Morgan’s fallout with Northside Entertainment led to a prolonged hiatus from the music scene, during which she lost rights to her stage name and social media accounts.

Other notable disputes include Runtown’s issues with Eric Manny Entertainment and Skales’ conflict with Baseline Records, both of which negatively impacted their careers.

VDM’s perspective suggests that an amicable resolution between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee could prevent potential career disruptions and allow both parties to move forward positively.
