Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems, has cautioned young Nigerians against expecting much from the government, stating bluntly that “Nigeria has no plans for you.”
Awoniyi shared this view on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, sparking mixed reactions. While some agreed, others argued that citizens should focus on contributing to nation-building rather than waiting on the government.
His statement comes shortly after Afrobeats star Rema expressed concern about the growing frustration among Nigerians. In a recent interview, Rema acknowledged the country’s numerous challenges but urged young people not to lose hope.
He emphasized that nation-building is a collective effort between the government and its citizens and vowed to continue playing his part in Nigeria’s progress.
