Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, will be holding their white wedding in Miami, Florida, this August 2025.
The Grammy-nominated singer made the announcement during an interview on The Breakfast Club, which aired on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
According to the “Be There Still” hitmaker, the upcoming ceremony will follow their traditional wedding, which took place in Nigeria (date unconfirmed) and drew massive attention both locally and internationally.
“I’m doing my white wedding in Miami in August. The wedding I did was traditional — it was like a carnival in Nigeria, like a holiday. The whole world stood still,” he said.
Davido explained that while the Nigerian celebration was grand and culturally rich, the Miami event will be more intimate, reflecting the difference between African and Western marriage customs.
“Back home, in some households, the culture is different. A lot of men grew up with their mums, so she’s everything. So whatever the husband does, she’s supporting him — right or wrong.”
The singer also opened up about the emotional journey he and Chioma have shared, describing the white wedding as a moment of redemption and celebration, especially after enduring painful public struggles, including the tragic loss of their son.
“Me and my wife’s relationship was in the public eye… I messed up a lot of times. So that full circle moment — everyone was like, finally, she can get what she deserves.”
Davido had high praise for Chioma, highlighting her grace, privacy, and loyalty despite the spotlight constantly being on their relationship.
“You’ll never see her in interviews, never see her online saying anything about me. And I appreciate her for that — because she could.”
The couple, who first became public in 2018, have remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity pairs. While acknowledging that no relationship is perfect, Davido made it clear he’s committed to doing things right.
