The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, has praised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for alleviating financial hardships for students.
Speaking at the institute’s matriculation ceremony over the weekend, PTI’s Principal and Chief Executive, Dr. Samuel Onoji, encouraged the 1,625 newly admitted students to take advantage of the zero-interest loan initiative established by President Bola Tinubu.
He disclosed that PTI received its first NELFUND disbursement on February 11, 2025, which was successfully paid to eligible students.
“NELFUND is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at making higher education more accessible and affordable,” Onoji stated. “It covers institutional fees and provides monthly upkeep support. The application process is straightforward and available online for both new and returning students.”
The principal also cautioned freshers against vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and misuse of social media.
The newly admitted students enrolled across various departments, including Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Environmental Science and Management Technology, and Industrial Safety and Environmental Technology.
