The Lagos Marathon is happening on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and several major roads will be closed. The race starts at National Stadium, Surulere, and runs through Ikorodu Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, and ends at Eko Atlantic.
To keep things safe, barriers will block access to the marathon route, and traffic officers from LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, LSNC, and LAWMA will be on duty.
Alternative Routes
If you’re driving, here are some ways to avoid the blocked roads:
From Ikeja → Take Ikorodu Road, Funsho Williams Ave, and Eko Bridge.
From Badagry/Mile 2 → Use Apapa via Orile, then Eko Bridge.
From Surulere → Pass through Iponri/Iganmu to Eko Bridge.
From Lagos-Ibadan Expressway → Use Ojota Slip Road, Ikorodu Road, and Funsho Williams Ave to Eko Bridge.
From Sango-Otta → Go through Mushin, then Funsho Williams Ave, to Eko Bridge.
From Epe-Lekki/Ajah → Use Marwa Junction, Admiralty Way, and Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
From Lagos Island → Take Apongbon Bridge, then Eko Bridge.
The Third Mainland Bridge will be closed to traffic heading towards Lagos Island but will remain open for motorists traveling to the Mainland. The state commissioner; Osiyemi reassured Lagos residents that the event would proceed smoothly with the support of traffic officials and requested patience from the public. He urged everyone to plan their routes ahead of time to minimize disruptions during the 10th Edition of The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
