The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has taken a swipe at the administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, describing it as a “double jeopardy” for the state and calling for a change in leadership to rescue Osun from what it termed a “governance-by-jamboree” era.
In a strongly worded statement issued by Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the Osun State Chairman of the NNPP, the party lamented the deteriorating state of governance, arguing that Osun is currently being run by three governors—a ceremonial, an administrative, and a technical figurehead—without any real leadership direction.
“Governance in Osun has been reduced to fanfare, with no clear vision or structure,” Odeyemi said. “The state is in dire need of a leader with deep knowledge and commitment, not one surrounded by bootlickers more focused on personal gain than public good.”
According to Odeyemi, the expectations that ushered the PDP into power in 2018 have been dashed. He accused the Adeleke administration of failing to fulfil campaign promises and turning governance into a performance, rather than a platform for development.
He also raised concerns over:
- A bloated list of aides reportedly receiving state salaries, many of whom he claimed have not stepped foot in Osun in years.
- The suspension of local government administration for over two months with no official explanation;
- And the alleged duplication of infrastructure projects already included in the state’s annual budget, which he described as financial deception.
“It’s heartbreaking that our collective resources are being mismanaged while development remains stagnant. Osun deserves a leader who is present, knowledgeable, and passionate about delivering results,” he said.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Odeyemi assured citizens that the NNPP will present a credible, competent, and visionary candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election—someone who, he said, would be capable of repositioning Osun among the leading states
