Remo Stars SC have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a narrow 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday. This marks a historic moment as the Ikenne-based club clinches their first-ever NPFL title, following close finishes in the past three seasons.
In celebration of their success, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen donated ₦10 million to the team. The Napoli star, who has a strong connection with Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede from their time together during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, reached out personally to express his support.
Fans across Nigeria have praised Osimhen for his generosity and continued commitment to Nigerian football.
The league victory also comes with a financial reward of ₦210 million: ₦200 million as the champion’s prize and an additional ₦10 million base fee given to all NPFL clubs. This is an increase from the ₦150 million prize awarded last season.
Coach Ogunmodede, who has been with Remo Stars for a decade, reflected emotionally on the journey:
“We came second, twice, and now we are champions… It’s a very important moment for me, and most importantly, it came on the birthday of our influencer, president of the club.”
