Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has expressed his disbelief and concern following the news that Mohamed Salah has extended his contract with Liverpool until 2027.
Salah’s new deal reportedly makes him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, with earnings of over £400,000 per week—equivalent to around £50,000 daily.
Currently sidelined with a calf injury sustained during an April clash with Manchester United, the Nottingham Forest star reacted dramatically to the news, saying:
“Has he signed? Mohamed has signed again? The league is finished! It is dead! He signed on? Everyone’s in trouble!”
Aina, who plays on the same wing as Salah, has faced him in recent matchups where his defensive efforts helped limit the Egyptian’s impact. Despite a 1-0 win and a 1-1 draw between Forest and Liverpool, Salah was unable to find the back of the net in both games.
Fans had mixed reactions to Aina’s comments. While some joked about Salah’s dominance, others encouraged Aina to focus on improving his own contract, and speculated that Salah’s true aim is to surpass Alan Shearer’s all-time EPL goal record.
Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017, has so far tallied 243 goals and 111 assists in 394 appearances, cementing his place as one of the Premier League’s greatest.
