Mercy Aigbe Claps Back at Critics of Her Marriage: ‘That’s Just Noise’

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe Adeoti, has dismissed criticisms surrounding her marriage to movie marketer Kazim Adeoti, calling them mere distractions.

Speaking on “Iriri Mi,” a talk show hosted by Bimpe Akintunde, Mercy addressed claims that she controls her husband, questioning why people are so invested in her personal life.

“That’s just noise. Look closely at those talking—how is their life? People only talk when you’re doing something good. If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic.”

‘I Knew What I Wanted’

The actress also revealed that she faced family opposition when she decided to remarry, especially at her age. However, she stood by her choice, emphasizing her desire for love and companionship.

“Even some family members asked me why I was getting married at almost 50, but everybody knows what they want. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I love to have a crown (husband) on my head and to be married.”

She further noted that marriage has contributed to her identity and success, saying:

“Maybe if I was still in my baby daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe.”
