The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar’s former spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that the spirit of #ENDSARS protest haunted the organisers of the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
Speaking with Arise News, Bwala said: “Protest is the constitutional right of people and the lessons to learn are on both sides of the protesters and the government.
“But I think it has more to do with the protesters because when they started this protest, some of us were advising that no matter what your objectives are, you should be able to have leadership that would negotiate like trade union.
“The spirit of EndSARS haunted them because they have this belief that once there is identified leadership, they are likely to be compromised by the government. So, they felt that the hydra-headed approach was what would compel the government.
“We also know that because of the dynamics of Nigeria and undemocratic elements who have interest in this whole thing, we were advised that if you go to a protest without a defined goal, the undemocratic elements are likely to seize it and when they do that, your rights would be abridged.”
