The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday quizzed the Delta State Accountant-General, Joy Enwa, over a N1.3 trillion fraud traced to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, TheCable reports.
EFCC operatives arrested Okowa for alleged diversion of N1.3 trillion on November 4.
The commission alleged that the former governor used the funds to acquire properties in Abuja and Asaba.
He has since denied the allegations.
Okowa, who ruled Delta State from 2015-2023, was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate in last year’s election.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Enwa’s questioning to the newspaper on Thursday night.
He said the accountant-general was released after her interrogation.
Several government officials in the South-South state, including a former director of finance and administration have been questioned by the anti-graft agency on the matter.
