Two suspected armed robbers, Ado Yusuf and Rabi’u Suleiman have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command in the Dambatta Local Government Area of the state.
During the arrest, the authorites recovered two stolen tricycles from them.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, December 19, 2024, said the suspects, drugged the driver of one of the tricycles and made away with the vehicle.
According to the PPRO, the recovered tricycle has been handed over to the owner.
“The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered two tricycles stolen by suspected thieves. The recovery was made possible through a well-coordinated intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts in Dambatta LGA, Kano State, on December 9, 2024,” the statement read.
“During the operation, two suspects, Ado Yusuf (40) and Rabi’u Suleiman (35), were arrested, and the two tricycles were recovered from them. On preliminary investigations, the suspects could not provide a satisfactory account of the tricycles.
“Following the Command’s Press Conference of 10th December 2024, on December 17, 2024, the owner of one of the tricycles, with registration number KGM 246VC, appeared at the Command’s Headquarters.
“The owner revealed that the suspects had drugged the tricycle rider, Mamman Musa, and stole the tricycle. The victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano and later transferred to Kano Reformatory Institute Kiru, treated and then discharged.
“The victim identified one of the suspects as the person who drugged him. The tricycle has been handed over to the owner, and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba has ordered for discreet investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
“The Command urges members of the public who have fallen victim to similar crimes, specifically those whose tricycles have been snatched through drugging or other means, to report to the office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, for possible identification or contact 07038874340.”
