At least 51 street traders and miscreants were arrested during a clearance operation conducted by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps on Tuesday night.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday, by the state Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Wahab noted that the clearance operation in Mosley Street, Alexander Street, Ikoyi, and surrounding areas was in a bid to maintain law and order in the state.
He wrote, “During the clearance operation last night at Mosley Street, Alexander Street, Ikoyi and environ, 51 street traders and miscreants were arrested.
“They will be tried in court in accordance with the relevant laws of the state.”
It was reported in November that the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce similarly arrested 53 suspects for engaging in illicit drug activities during a sting operation within the Alimosho Local Government Area.
