Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has downplayed suggestions that his team are favourites ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Chelsea sitting second in the league table, Maresca insists that the standings do not automatically tip the scales in their favour.
As posted on Sunday by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano via X, Maresca, speaking during a pre-match press conference, said, “We are not favourites, I’m sorry. They are playing in European competition like us, we are there, but it’s not because we are second in the table that we are favourites – absolutely not.”
The clash promises to be a high-stakes encounter, with Chelsea aiming to maintain their strong league form, while
Spurs seek to climb higher in the standings.
Spurs will face Chelsea at home on Sunday at 17:30 Nigerian time.
