The National Director of Research and Statistics CNG, Mohammed Ibrahim, has disclosed that the group is assessing the impact of the bill should it be passed into law.
Ibrahim, who made this known in a telephone interview with Arewa PUNCH, in Gombe, said that as a group that is concerned with the impact that the law would have on the whole country instead of only the region, affirmed that the members have a right to agitate for good governance.
He said, “We are planning to have a meeting later today (Saturday). Yesterday, we communicated with the national office, and we are planning to come out with a stand.”
Speaking on the group’s reaction to the bill, the CNG top official added, “We don’t support it (VAT bill). We are going to agitate because when the bill is passed, a lot of people are going to have several issues. We are not against it directly, but if at all they want to come with the reform, we will make sure it doesn’t affect people. We are not talking about any region but Nigeria as a whole. We want an inclusive government,” Ibrahim insisted.
