A suspected bandits informant, Sanusi Bature, has been arrested by the Katsina State Community Watch Corp (CWC) Batsari command for allegedly aiding the kidnap of over 50 persons in Shirgi community.
Bature, from Tsabawa village, was paraded by the security operatives on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
In a video posted by the command, the suspect revealed he was paid 250k for his role.
He admitted to aiding the bandits by providing them with intelligence about the movement of security personnel.
“My name is Sanusi Bature. I am from Tsabawa village. I served as an informant to the bandits. They used to call me on the phone to ask if the area was secure because of the presence of security agencies,” he confessed.
According to Bature, he would advise the bandits on when to avoid the area to ensure the safety of their operations.
He recounted the harrowing Shirgi attack.
“When they invaded the Surugi community, more than 50 people were abducted, and I was given N250,000. In Tsabawa, which is my village, seven people were abducted by the bandits, but the victims were later rescued,” he said.
The suspect also revealed that the bandits contacted him to deliver his share of the ransom collected from their victims.
The CWC confirmed that Bature admitted to all allegations against him during questioning.
