Game day update: Tyreek Hill is expected to play on Sunday, per Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.
The Miami Dolphins will look to get their offense back on track in Week 8 as quarterback Tua Tagavailoa returns to the lineup. Tua has missed the last four games as he recovers from a concussion suffered in Week 2. Wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will welcome Tua back to the lineup as the Dolphins have struggled to generate success in the passing game without him. The Dolphins will also hope to have Hill available for Tua’s return after he joined the injury report on Thursday with a foot injury.
According to NFL Media’s Cameron Wolfe, the Dolphins are listing wide receiver Tyreek Hill as questionable against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. Hill didn’t practice on Friday after being limited on Thursday. The Dolphins wide receiver was added to the injury report on Thursday with a new foot injury. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel remained optimistic that Hill will play on Sunday despite popping up on the injury report. Hill will be a player to watch on Sunday morning to ensure that he is active. The Dolphins will play the Cardinals in the early 1 p.m. slate of games.
What Tyreek Hill injury means for fantasy football
The expectation seems to be that Tyreek Hill will play on Sunday against the Cardinals in Tua’s return to the lineup. Hill has been one of the bigger busts in fantasy football this season as he is the WR44 in PPR formats. With a combination of Tim Boyle, Skylar Thompson, and Tyler Huntley at quarterback, Hill has four games this season with single-digit fantasy points and had 26 points back in Week 1.
Tua’s return should bring some optimism to Hill fantasy managers. Over the past few seasons, the connection between Tua and Hill has been nearly unmatched. Hill averages 22.4 fantasy points per game with Tua as his quarterback. While the Dolphins offense has struggled this season, the return of Tua could be the spark they need to get back to performing at the level that many are used to seeing.
Due to his upside, Hill has been a difficult decision for fantasy managers this season. He’s a player that’s hard to bench, but hasn’t had many performances worthy of making fantasy lineups. Even if he’s not 100 percent with his foot injury, Hill is a must-start in Week 8 against the Cardinals. The return of Tua is what Hill managers have been waiting on and the Dolphins quarterback is finally set to return on Sunday.
The Dolphins will also be going up against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Arizona ranks 30th in EPA against the pass and have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to wide receivers. That only benefits Dolphins pass-catchers, especially Hill.
In the case that Hill doesn’t play, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was removed from the injury report. Waddle had been dealing with a quad injury, but was a full participant on Friday. He would be the top option in the Dolphins offense in the case that Hill can’t go. However, Hill is expected to be available and remains a must-start in fantasy.
