The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been appointed Chairman of the National Campaign Council, formed by the ruling All Progressives Congress to drive the party’s campaign for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
This was disclosed in a list issued by the APC’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, on Thursday.
The Ondo governorship election is scheduled for 16th November.
Sanwo-Olu is set to lead the 305-member council, leveraging his leadership experience in Lagos to guide the campaign’s activities and winning strategies.
He will be supported by former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who serves as secretary, alongside prominent APC figures such as Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The statement partly reads, “The National Working Committee, led by Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has approved the composition of the Ondo State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council.
“The inauguration of the Ondo State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council will take place at the International Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State, on 28th October.
“The inclusion of high-profile political figures, such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, underscores the party’s commitment to consolidating its influence in the region.
“The team also comprises notable former officials, including Chief Olusola Oke, Senator Stella Oduah, Senator Uche Ekwunife, and General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), all of whom will play crucial roles in various campaign operations.”
