Welcome to Week 7 of the fantasy football season! Week 6 is in the books and your QB1 for the week is none other than Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. After a rough start, Williams has been playing well. Yes, his competition hasn’t been great, but after his slow start, he’s coming on strong.
Justin Fields rushed for two more touchdowns and finished as the fantasy QB7 in a win over the Raiders, but it sounds like the team will go to Russell Wilson on Sunday night against the Jets, per Tom Pelissero. Wilson has no fantasy value to speak of, so it looks like we just lost a fantasy quarterback for this week at least.
Overall, Lamar Jackson has been the best quarterback in fantasy and real life and is once again the frontrunner for MVP. It really has been an amazing career for Jackson and he’s got plenty to go. At this point a Super Bowl ring is his only missing piece of hardware.
Week 7 quarterback bye weeks
Dak Prescott, Caleb Williams
Week 7 quarterback injuries
Anthony Richardson, Colts
All signs point toward Richardson returning this week as the starter, as he appeared close last week and head coach Shane Steichen continues to tell anyone who will listen that Richardson is the starter when healthy. Joe Flacco will likely return to the bench against the Dolphins this week, but Richardson can’t seem to stay healthy, so Flacco remains a player of interest in fantasy.
Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins
Tua can’t come off of I.R. for another week, so the earliest he could play would be Week 8 when they host the Cardinals. There does seem to be optimism that he will be able to return then, but nothing is locked in yet. Tyler Huntley will get at least one more start this week against the Colts.
Derek Carr, Saints
Carr is out this week due to an oblique injury. He missed last week as well, but has not been put on I.R. Spencer Rattler will get the start on Thursday night against the Broncos, while Carr hopefully will return before he misses four games.
Week 7 quarterback sleepers
Drake Maye, Patriots vs. Jaguars
The Patriots travel to London to take on a Jaguars team that may have dispersed into the Baltic Sea by now. But if they do show up, we know how poorly they’ve been playing and that you can start just about anyone against them and get some useful fantasy points. This week it is rookie Drake Maye, who played well enough against a good Texans team to give us some hope that he can be even better against a Jaguars pass defense that has given up 13 passing touchdowns to one interception over their last four games.
Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers vs. Ravens
Mayfield isn’t a sleeper, as he’s QB2 in fantasy for the season. But, he isn’t getting the hype he deserves and this week looks like it could be a big one for the veteran quarterback. He’ll take on a Ravens team that is one of, if not, the best run defenses in the league and are favored by 3.5 points on the road due to their great offense. But, their weakness is their pass defense and it truly is a weakness, especially when you consider teams are forced to pass against them.
Mayfield through six weeks has finished as QB2, QB5, QB27, QB3, QB7, and QB2. In that QB2 finish last week, he threw three interceptions, but had four touchdown passes. He’s a little scary at times, but the volume and strong receiving group should keep him as a strong fantasy play moving forward, but this week he has extremely high upside in a game he’ll need to throw the ball early and often.
