The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, has saluted Nigerian teachers’ resilience and courage amidst identified challenges as the World Teachers’ Day is marked.
Arigbabu made the commendation in a statement issued on Saturday to rejoice with the teachers in the state on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
The commissioner said that the theme of this year’s celebration, “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” speaks of teachers’ essential role in shaping society’s future.
He said, “Your passion, sacrifice, and devotion to your profession are not only invaluable but also critical to the success of our education system and the development of our nation.
“On this special day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to every teacher in Ogun State. You are the true architects of our future, moulding the hearts and minds of young learners, nurturing their potential, and inspiring them to reach greater heights.
” Your work goes beyond imparting knowledge; you shape character, encourage critical thinking, and foster a lifelong love for learning.
“We recognize the challenges you face, and yet, you continue to rise above them with grace and determination. Your resilience, especially in times of uncertainty, is a testament to your strength and dedication.
“Whether in the classroom, in virtual spaces, or in communities, your influence as educators has touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy of hope, wisdom, and inspiration.
“Today, we celebrate not just your profession but your passion. Thank you for being the light that brightens our world, the mentors who ignite curiosity, and the heroes who tirelessly nurture our next generation.
While thanking the teachers for their indispensable roles in society, Arigbabu said that the state is proud of its teachers and will continue supporting them in every possible way to deliver their very best to the learners in the state.
The commissioner called on all stakeholders to continue to join hands with the government to build an education system that values and uplifts teachers’ voices, fostering a brighter future for all.
