A zoo keeper identified as Babaji Daule at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been killed by a lion at the library’s zoo.
The incident which has been confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command via a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Omolola Odutola, happened on Saturday evening after the 35-year-old Bauchi State indigene reportedly forgot to secure the locks and barricade the lion’s enclosure before approaching the cage to feed it.

Odutola disclosed that the open cage afforded the lion an opportunity to escape and attack the handler, resulting in injuries to his neck and eventual death
He added that the victim’s remain has been removed and taken to the mortuary at Ijaye General Hospital, while the wild lion was shot to release its grip on the handler.
