Seven abducted victims have been rescued by the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) in the Yagba East Local Government Area of the state.
The vigilante members also captured the suspected kidnappers during the operation.
It was gathered that the kidnappers invaded the residence, and beat up the family members before whisking them away to their hideout.
The Head of the Department/Media Unit, Office of the Comptroller General of the service, S.O Saka, who disclosed this in a statement at the weekend said the operation took place on 18th September 2024, following intelligence reports regarding the location of the kidnappers.
“The swift action by the KSVS came after reports emerged of individuals abducted in Yagba East area. Mobilized quickly, the vigilante team conducted thorough surveillance and coordinated efforts,” the statement read.
“During the operation, the KSVS located the hideout of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the rescue of the victims, who were reported to be in good health. The vigilante team successfully arrested four suspects linked to the kidnapping.”
Community leaders praised the vigilance and effectiveness of the KSVS and emphasized the importance of local efforts in combating insecurity. The timely intervention has bolstered confidence among residents, who are encouraged to cooperate with security agencies.
