The dealy Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly destroyed the 330-kilovolt transmission line between Damaturu and Maiduguri just three weeks after it was restored.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a post on his X account on Sunday.
According to him, the terrorists blew up the TCN infrastructure with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the early hours of Sunday.
The development had plunged Maiduguri and the surrounding environment into complete darkness.
“The attackers used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to blow up the facility around 2 a.m., plunging Maiduguri and surrounding areas back into darkness. This marks a repeated targeting of the critical infrastructure by insurgents,” the post read.
The incident is coming weeks after TCN restored the line on September 4, 2024, following its earlier destruction by terrorists.
Meanwhile, TCN is yet to officially speak on the latest incident as of the time of filing this report.
