Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has shared a powerful life lesson with her followers after celebrating her 40th birthday.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Damilola spoke about one of the most important truths she’s learned with age: nobody owes you anything. She said the message came to her during a recent phone call with a friend, and it struck her so deeply that she felt compelled to share it publicly.
“Sometimes the people you showed up for won’t show up for you. Sometimes your hard efforts will go unnoticed. That apology you’re waiting for may never come,” she said.

Damilola reflected on how many people believe that if they do good, life will automatically reward them. But reality doesn’t always work that way, she explained.
“People show love, care, and attention because they choose to—not because they’re obligated to,” she said. “It’s not an entitlement.”
She encouraged her fans to stop taking things personally when others don’t meet their expectations. Instead, she advised them to observe, adjust, and move on, emphasizing that protecting one’s peace should always come first.
“Your peace is your power. Don’t give it away just because someone couldn’t meet you where you are,” she concluded.
