Mercy Johnson Clears the Air: “I Don’t Have Cancer”

Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has shut down rumors claiming she is battling cancer, saying her recent weight loss and a misunderstood video clip led to the false speculation.

The rumors started after an old clip from her cooking show, Mercy’s Menu, resurfaced online. In the video, Mercy spoke about a past thyroid scare that required surgery, which some fans took out of context—sparking fears about her health.

Taking to social media to set the record straight, Mercy thanked fans for their love and concern but made it clear: she’s healthy and cancer-free.

“Thank you to everyone who has been calling, sending messages, and praying for me. I truly appreciate it,” she said in a heartfelt video.

“But I want to clarify something—I do not have cancer. The clip that’s been going around was edited. I talked about a cancer scare, not a diagnosis. I had a swelling on my neck, and my doctor was concerned. It turned out to be a thyroid issue. I had surgery, and now I’m fine.”

Mercy showed the surgery scar on her neck in the video and emphasized again that she’s okay.

“I’m perfectly fine. My phone has been blowing up, and I appreciate the concern. But please know that I’m doing well. I do not have cancer—in Jesus’ name, amen!”
