Nigeria has recorded a massive surge in nursing enrollment, jumping from 28,000 in 2023 to 115,000 in 2025, according to the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
This milestone was achieved under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, surpassing the initial target of 110,000 students and marking a major leap in both healthcare and education.
The update was confirmed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, and Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, who attributed the success to increased focus on STEMM education and strong collaboration among key stakeholders, including teaching hospitals and the Nursing Council.
Dr. Alausa hailed the achievement as a transformative step in addressing the growing demand for qualified nurses at home and abroad.
