Members of the entertainment community in Kwara State have launched efforts to secure the release of controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, who has been held at the Oke Kura Correctional Facility in Ilorin since Monday.
Portable was arraigned before Upper Area Court 1 in Ilorin following a petition filed by Fuji music legend, Saheed Osupa. The singer was remanded after failing to meet his bail conditions, as set by the court.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday, Ibrahim Paranti, convener of Kwara Talents Harvest, confirmed that top figures in the local entertainment scene had visited Portable at the facility and were actively working behind the scenes to secure his freedom.
“We are making serious moves to get Portable out. Right now, we’re trying to get in contact with Alhaji Saheed Osupa, believing he can lend his voice and influence to help resolve the situation,” Paranti stated.
He added that talks were ongoing and expressed optimism about a positive outcome.
“I am assuring everyone that good news will break soon,” he said.
Paranti also appealed to Portable’s fans and supporters to remain calm, noting that constructive dialogue is the priority, with hopes of settling the dispute amicably between the two artists.
