American rapper Kanye West has called out US artists for lacking financial intelligence, urging them to learn from Nigerians, Jews, Chinese, and Indians when it comes to business.
In a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, Kanye criticized many American rappers for relying on foreign investors and lawyers to manage their careers, rather than building their own financial independence.
“Artists Are Dumb, They Can’t Even Count” – Kanye
Speaking bluntly, Kanye said:
“None of these nggas [rappers] are as smart as me. I can’t say for the tech dudes… But artistes are dumb, bro. It’s like, they can’t even fcking count, bro.”
He also noted that most record labels and TV networks in the US are controlled by Jewish lawyers and investors, challenging artists to create businesses without relying on them.
“Go and ask them to run a whole record label without a Jewish person… Go and set up your whole TV network, make it run, no Jewish investor, let me see how that works.”
“Learn from Nigerians”
Kanye went on to praise Nigerian creatives and entrepreneurs, saying they take full control of their businesses and set an example for others to follow.
“Until motherfckers can really get their stuff together like the Nigerians, the Chinese, the Jewish or like the tech Indian or some sht, everything I’m saying counts.”
His comments have sparked discussions about financial literacy in the music industry and the growing influence of Nigerian entrepreneurs in global entertainment.
