A Nigerian graduate has sparked reactions online after revealing that his university certificate has not helped him generate a single naira, even after 15 years.
In a TikTok video, the man expressed frustration over his financial struggles, saying that despite his education and hard work, he is still unable to secure a decent livelihood. He even hinted at considering internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo) as a way out, after seeing comments suggesting it.
“Guys, this is it—15 years of going to school, 15 years of hard labor, and this damn result hasn’t fetched me ₦1.”
He lamented the high cost of living in Lagos, stating that even those earning ₦500,000 per month struggle to afford rent, let alone build a house.
“How can someone earning ₦500k afford to build a house? In some areas, you can’t even rent an apartment for that amount.”
His post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians:
DaYoung: “Bro, you studied Banking & Finance and you’re saying ₦500k isn’t enough? At least prove you learned something! School is NOT a scam!”
Baron Victor: “School na scam, my bro. Come make I teach you Yahoo.”
Mandy Rimamndeyati: “I swear, even ₦300k isn’t enough for me as a single person. I’ve removed marriage from my 2025 prayer point.”
Sholexforlife2: “Must you work for the government? School should teach you how to create something for yourself!”
OLISAEMEKA: “If you finish SS3, just learn how to read and write, then go find your destiny.”
The conversation reflects a growing debate on the value of a university degree in Nigeria, with many questioning whether traditional education still guarantees financial success.
What do you think? Is school really a scam, or should graduates focus on entrepreneurship instead?
