Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of cocaine cleverly concealed inside prayer beads and locally made shoes.
According to the agency, the suspects were attempting to smuggle the illicit drugs to the Holy Land before being caught.
NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, shared images of the seized items on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
“In this holy month, while many are focused on prayer and spiritual devotion, some individuals were busy hiding cocaine in prayer beads and handmade shoes in an attempt to smuggle drugs to the Holy Land,” the statement read.
He added that NDLEA officers successfully intercepted the suspects, preventing the drugs from making it to their destination.
The agency continues to crack down on drug trafficking, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
