15 members of criminal syndicates who were engaged in housebreaking, theft and burglary have been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, December 29, 2024, said the suspects were arrested by police operatives in collaboration with quasi-security outfits in a robust foot-patrol to curb crimes and criminal activities during the Yuletide.
The PPRO said the operatives also recovered 18 mobile phones and other household Items from the suspects.
According to the PPRO, the stolen phones were recovered from a 14-year-old suspect identified as Usman Ali.
It was alleged that the teenager broke into a mobile phone shop after seeking employment in Magama Gumau.
“In alignment with the directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed psc, Anipr, the Bauchi State Police Command has achieved significant success in promoting a safe and enjoyable festive season for all residents. The patrol unit from the GRA Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with quasi-security outfits, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Holman Simon, has successfully apprehended 15 suspects engaged in criminal activities, including criminal conspiracy, theft, housebreaking, and criminal misappropriation,” the statement read.
“On 25 December 2024, at about 03:00 hours, the team effectively thwarted an attempted burglary at a shop located in the Wuntin Dada area.
“Upon noticing the presence of police operatives nearby, the suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing to their rented accommodation; however, the officers promptly pursued and secured their arrests.
The suspects apprehended during this operation are as follows:
1. Adamu Umar AKA Bangis (M), 20 years old
2. Sadik Inuwa AKA Riders (M), 20 years old
3. Ukasha Saleh AKA Baushe (M), 20 years old
4. Abba Musa AKA Mankuli (M), 18 years old
5. Abdulrashid Ismail AKA Over (M), 18 years old
6. Ya’u Abubakar AKA Balati (M), 18 years old
7. Mustapha Musa AKA Rodi (M), 18 years old
8. Yunusa Abubakar AKA Dan Bazawara (M), 18 years old
9. Ukasha Abubakar, 19 years old
10. Ya’u Usman, 19 years old
11. Iliyasu Shehu, 20 years old
12. Sani Ya’u, 20 years old
13. Moh’d Suleman, 23 years old
14. Idris Halisu, 18 years old – all residents of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi.
During the operation, the team successfully recovered a variety of items suspected to be stolen, which included: eight assorted knives, two electric stabilizers, two car batteries, three cartons of Maltina, one carton of Fearless Juice, one carton of Coca-Cola, one carton of Miranda, fifty bottles of cough syrup, four pillows, three mattresses, three prayer mats, two cooking pots, two food flasks, and various other household items.
Furthermore, based on credible intelligence, officers arrested 14-year-old Usman Ali from the Sabuwar Kasuwa area. It was alleged that he broke into a mobile phone shop after seeking employment in Magama Gumau, resulting in the theft of 18 mobile phones.
Following a tip-off, he was apprehended in Bauchi, and the stolen items were successfully recovered. The owner of the shop has been notified of the return of the items. All suspects will undergo profiling and appropriate legal proceedings.
