In a bid to ensure public safety during the festive season, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Olatunji Disu, conducted an operational visit to key recreational centres in Abuja on Thursday.
The inspection tour covered popular spots, including Millennium Park, Jabi Park, Lugbe Shoprite, and Magic Land Amusement Park, which typically attract large crowds during the holidays.
According to a statement by the FCT Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the visit aimed to assess the deployment of security personnel and ensure strategic measures were in place to protect residents and visitors.
Speaking during the tour, CP Disu highlighted the importance of visible policing during the festive season to deter criminal activities and foster a sense of safety among the public.
“We are committed to creating a secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festive period without fear. These deployments are designed to ensure that all citizens feel safe while celebrating with their loved ones,” Disu was quoted as saying.
Adeh further noted that the Commissioner interacted with officers stationed at the locations, commending their efforts and urging them to remain vigilant and professional in their duties.
Residents visiting the centres expressed appreciation for the visible police presence, noting that it provided reassurance during the busy season.
The FCT Police Command also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities through its emergency hotlines, emphasising the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.
